Foreward
Everyone has responsibility to discharge duties and one among them is "Pithru karma".  We are required to perform Shraarddha Karmas (pithru karma) after the passing away of Parents.  Failure to perform the enshrined duties, such as this one, will earn the wrath of Pithrus (departed souls)and ultimately cursed by them.  "Pithru tharpanam" means "to satisfy our departed souls of forefathers"

Here Pithrus are those passed away and referred to as "pithru vargam", Mathamaha vargam" respectively. Should anyone wants peace, wealth and good health for seven generations - they should perform pithru karmas without interruption.  Failing to execute these karmas or performing without much interest but as a routine, will not keep the Pithrus happy.  Therefore, we request everyone to do it according to laid down procedures and Shraddha (concentration).

Besides these two pithrukarmas (each year shraardham), doing Amavasyay tharpanam, mahalaya paksham, Masa Sangramanams, eclipse (sun & moon), are important.
